Natural Hessonite (Gomed)

Hessonite is an important astrological gemstone because of its ability to ward off its negative effetcs of Rahu-Mahadasha in the wearer’s birth-chart. It is thus necessary to make sure that the chosen gemstone is worth wearing. For a good buy, look for the following criteria before you buy the best quality Hessonite gemstone online.

Origin – Hessonite originates in India, Sri Lanka, Africa, Austria and Thailand. However, Ceylon or Saloni gomed is the most popular of the Hessonite gemstones because of its relatively superior quality and brilliant color saturation. Indian Hessonite or Black Gomed has low shine and high visible, black, spot-like inclusions, making it a less preferred variety both astrologically and aesthetically.

Color – The Gomed gemstone color range varies from honey-yellow to deep reddish brown. However, gomed stone color resembling the color of Cow’s urine is the most preferred.

Clarity – Visible inclusions in hessonite can be seen as toffee-like streaks or black spots. Other invisible inclusions like oily dots or liquid inclusions, can be seen using a microscope. Not only the volume but location of inclusions can also lower the quality of the gemstone dramatically. A premium quality hessonite garnet will be intense in color, transparent and nearly inclusion free.

Due to its relationship with the planet Rahu, Hessonite is an astrologically significant gemstone. It is highly recommended to be worn by individuals experiencing Rahu Mahadasha in their birth-charts.

Vedic astrology suggests hessonite stone for Kumbh Rashi.
